Chapter 2
My Fated Mate's Alpha Uncle Marked Me On Our Mating Night
Chapter 2: The Crimson Rejection
The grand ballroom was a sea of glittering gowns and tailored suits.
Hundreds of pack members and visiting nobles chatted amiably, completely unaware of the storm brewing in the upper levels of the castle.
Harper walked through the crowd, her face pale but her posture rigid.
She ignored the whispers of the servants and the mocking glares of her stepmother, Evelyn, who was standing near the buffet, sipping wine and laughing with her friends.
Harper’s eyes scanned the room, searching for a single figure.
"Harper! There you are!"
Her father, Thomas Ashford, grabbed her by the shoulder, his grip tight and warning.
"Where have you been?"
"The elders are waiting at the altar."
"And where is Landon?"
Harper looked at her father’s hand on her shoulder, feeling a profound sense of disgust.
"You knew, didn't you?"
"You knew about him and Chloe."
"You helped them plan to humiliate me."
Thomas’s expression didn't soften.
He leaned in, his voice a low, harsh whisper.
"Be silent, Harper."
"You are an Omega."
"You should be grateful Landon is willing to mark you at all."
"This merger between our families secures our pack's future."
"You will go up to that altar."
"You will take his mark."
"And you will accept Chloe as his second."
"Do not ruin this for us."
"I would rather rot," Harper hissed, wrenching her shoulder out of his grip.
"You ungrateful little brat!" Thomas snarled, reaching for her again.
But before he could touch her, a sudden, suffocating wave of dominant Alpha aura washed over the ballroom.
The chatter ceased instantly.
The air grew thick, heavy, and cold, making it hard to breathe.
Wolves throughout the room instinctively lowered their heads, their inner beasts whimpering in submission.
Harper felt the pressure, but strangely, instead of making her want to bow, her wolf Cora stood tall, her ears perked up in curiosity.
At the top of the grand staircase stood a man who looked as though he had been carved from obsidian and ice.
He was incredibly tall, with broad shoulders draped in a tailored charcoal suit that did nothing to hide the lethal, muscular build beneath.
His hair was pitch-black, and his jawline was sharp enough to cut glass.
But it was his eyes that held everyone captive—they were a striking, piercing silver, glowing with an ancient, untamed power.
Axel Blackwood.
The Alpha Supreme of the Five Territories.
He was a living legend, a warrior who had united the warring pack territories through blood and iron.
Rumor had it he was entirely ruthless, devoid of human emotion, and had never found a mate because no female wolf could survive his dominant aura.
As Axel descended the stairs, the crowd parted like the Red Sea.
His gaze was fixed straight ahead, cold and indifferent to the hundreds of wolves bowing to him.
Landon and Chloe had just entered the ballroom from the side doors, looking flushed and smug.
Landon quickly straightened his coat and walked toward his uncle, bowing deeply.
"Uncle Axel," Landon said, his voice dripping with sycophantic respect.
"We are honored by your presence tonight."
"The mating ceremony is about to begin."
Axel stopped, his silver eyes landing on Landon.
His expression remained unreadable, his scent of dark cedarwood and gathering storm filling the room.
"Is that so?"
Harper knew this was her only chance.
If she let Landon mark her, she would be bound to his cruelty forever.
She had to break the bond, and she had to do it now, in front of everyone.
She stepped out of the crowd, walking directly toward Landon and Axel.
"Harper, get back here!" her father hissed from behind, but she ignored him.
Landon turned, a frown crossing his face as he saw her.
"Harper, stop making a scene."
"Come to my side."
Harper stopped three feet away from him.
She raised her chin, her eyes burning with a fierce, crimson light that surprised even herself.
"Landon Blackwood. Future Alpha of the Silverbrook Pack."
The ballroom fell into a dead, terrified silence.
"I, Harper Ashford, reject you as my fated mate," Harper declared, her voice ringing out like a clarion bell.
"I reject your touch, I reject your title, and I reject your bloodline."
"From this moment on, we are nothing to each other."
A collective gasp echoed through the hall.
Landon’s face turned from smug to a violent shade of red.
"You... you crazy bitch!"
"You can't reject me!"
"You're an Omega!"
"You need me!"
"I would rather die than bear the mark of a coward and a cheat," Harper spat.
The moment the words left her mouth, a sharp, agonizing pain ripped through her chest.
The fated bond, represented by an invisible silver thread connecting their souls, began to fray and snap.
Landon groaned, clutching his chest as his wolf roared in pain and humiliation.
Harper gasped, her knees trembling from the sheer physical toll of the rejection, but she forced herself to stand tall.
She refused to fall in front of him.
"You will regret this, Harper!" Thomas Ashford yelled, stepping forward with his hand raised to strike her.
"You have disgraced our family!"
But before Thomas’s hand could fall, a deep, rumbling growl vibrated through the room, so powerful it shook the crystal chandeliers above.
"Touch her, and I will tear your arm from your torso," a voice commanded.
It was Axel Blackwood.

Chapter 3: The Bargain with the Supreme
The threat was delivered with a quiet, icy calmness that was far more terrifying than any loud roar.
Thomas Ashford froze, his face turning pale as he slowly lowered his hand, his body trembling under the crushing weight of Axel’s direct aura.
Axel stepped forward, his massive frame easily eclipsing Thomas.
He didn't even look at the older man; instead, his silver eyes slowly lowered to land on Harper.
Harper held her breath.
Up close, Axel’s scent was overwhelming—it was a rich blend of dark cedar, leather, and the electric ozone of a thunderstorm.
It was a scent that commanded absolute obedience, yet inside her chest, Cora was purring, her tail wagging with a strange, frantic excitement.
"Why did you reject him?" Axel asked.
His voice was a low, velvet baritone that sent a shiver straight down Harper’s spine.
Before Harper could answer, Landon stepped forward, grimacing from the pain of the severed bond.
"Uncle! Don't listen to her!"
"She’s mentally unstable."
"She caught me having a private conversation with Chloe and assumed the worst."
"She’s throwing a tantrum like a spoiled child."
"A private conversation?" Harper laughed, a cold, mocking sound that drew everyone’s attention.
"Is that what we call it now, Landon?"
"You were buried between my step-sister's thighs in the private study, planning to make her your shadow Luna while using me for my family's political standing."
Whispers erupted like wildfire through the crowd.
Chloe shrank back behind her mother, her face burning with embarrassment, while Thomas Ashford looked as though he wanted to sink into the floor.
Landon’s eyes flashed with murderous rage.
"You have no proof!"
"I don't need proof," Harper said, her gaze steady.
"The Moon Goddess knows the truth."
"And now, the entire pack does too."
She turned her attention back to Axel.
She knew she was standing on the edge of a precipice.
By rejecting the future Alpha, she had made herself an outcast.
Her father would lock her away, or worse, exile her to the rogue-infested wild lands.
She needed a shield.
She needed the strongest shield in the world.
She took a deep breath, stepping closer to the Alpha Supreme.
"Alpha Supreme," Harper said, her voice dropping to a soft, pleading register that only he could hear.
"I know of your reputation."
"I know you have no Luna, and that you have no interest in the political games of the lower packs."
"But I am offering you a bargain."
Axel tilted his head, a ghost of an amused smile playing on his lips.
"A bargain?"
"A weak Omega she-wolf wants to make a bargain with the Alpha Supreme?"
"I am not weak," Harper whispered, her eyes flashing with a sudden, brilliant emerald light—a color that did not belong to a standard Omega wolf.
"And I can offer you something no one else can."
"I can give you a reason to take full control of the Silverbrook territory without starting a war with the council."
"Marry me."
The silence in the room stretched so thin it felt as though it would snap.
Axel stared at her, his silver eyes dark and calculating.
For a moment, Harper thought he was going to laugh in her face and have her thrown to the rogues.
But then, his gaze drifted to her neck, where her pale skin was completely unmarked, pristine and untouched.
"You want to marry me to spite your ex-mate," Axel murmured, his voice incredibly low.
"I want to marry you to survive," Harper corrected, her eyes locking onto his with absolute determination.
"And to show him that what he threw away was something he could never hope to possess."
Axel’s wolf, a massive, legendary beast known as Onyx, roared in his mind.
For the past ten years, Onyx had been silent, rejecting every female presented to them.
But the moment this bruised, fierce she-wolf had stood up and rejected her mate, Onyx had awakened, clawing at the surface, demanding to claim her.
"Do you know what it means to be my wife, Harper Ashford?" Axel asked, his voice sending a wave of heat through her body.
"I do not play games."
"If I take you, you are mine."
"Forever."
"I am ready," Harper said.
Axel turned back to the crowd, his dominant aura expanding until every single wolf in the room was forced to drop to one knee.
He looked down at Landon, who was staring up at him in sheer, horrified disbelief.
"Landon," Axel said, his voice ringing out with absolute authority.
"Your mating ceremony is canceled."
"But the gala will continue."
"For tonight, we celebrate a different union."
He reached out, his large, warm hand wrapping securely around Harper’s waist, pulling her flush against his massive chest.
"Meet your new Luna Supreme," Axel declared.

Chapter 4: The Outrage
The protest that tore from Landon’s throat was more animal than human.
“No!”
His voice shook the crystal chandeliers above the ballroom. He attempted to rise, but Axel’s dominant aura pressed against him like an invisible mountain, forcing one knee back onto the polished floor.
“Uncle, you cannot do this!” Landon shouted. His face had lost all color, and his wolf clawed frantically beneath his skin. “Harper is my fated mate. The Moon Goddess chose her for me. You cannot simply take what belongs to me!”
The gathered wolves recoiled at his words.
Axel stood at the center of the grand ballroom with one arm wrapped securely around Harper’s waist. He did not need to raise his voice or bare his fangs. His presence alone silenced hundreds of pack members.
His silver eyes settled on Landon.
“She belonged to herself before she ever belonged to you.”
The statement struck the room harder than a roar.
Landon stared at him.
Axel continued, his voice calm and merciless.
“She was your fated mate until you betrayed the bond. You defiled it with another woman inside your father’s study, humiliated Harper before both your families, and expected the Moon Goddess’s gift to remain waiting after you threw it into the dirt.”
His aura intensified.
Several wolves lowered their heads. Others struggled to breathe.
“You felt the bond break when she rejected you,” Axel said. “Do not insult every wolf in this room by pretending otherwise.”
Landon’s hand moved toward his chest, where the severed bond still burned like an open wound.
“She was angry,” he insisted. “She did not understand what she was doing.”
Harper finally looked at him.
For years, Landon’s approval had controlled her happiness. A smile from him could carry her through a week of insults. A careless touch had been enough to convince her that one day he would defend her.
Now she saw him clearly.
He was not grieving the pain he had caused her.
He was grieving the loss of something he believed he owned.
“I understood perfectly,” Harper said.
Her voice was quiet, but the silence in the ballroom carried it to every corner.
Landon’s eyes fixed on her.
“Harper, you were upset. Chloe manipulated the situation. We can repair the bond.”
Chloe flinched at the accusation but remained close to Evelyn.
“There is nothing to repair,” Harper replied. “You did not make one mistake. You made a choice every time you watched them treat me like a servant. You made another when you brought Chloe into your study. And you made your final choice when you expected me to accept the humiliation because I was only an Omega.”
Landon’s expression twisted.
“You are an Omega.”
A low growl rolled through Axel’s chest.
The floor beneath Landon’s knee cracked.
Thomas Ashford stepped forward before his son could provoke Axel further.
“Alpha Supreme, with all respect, this announcement cannot be valid.”
Greed overcame the terror in his face as he straightened his shoulders.
“Harper remains a daughter of the Silverbrook Pack. As her pack father and legal guardian, I have authority over any political marriage involving her.”
Harper’s body went rigid.
Axel felt the reaction and tightened his arm around her—not to restrain her, but to remind her that she no longer stood alone.
“Your authority?” Axel asked.
Thomas swallowed.
Axel took one deliberate step toward him.
“You allowed your daughter to sleep in servant quarters while Chloe occupied rooms purchased with Harper’s inheritance.”
Thomas’s eyes widened.
Evelyn’s fingers tightened around her wineglass.
“You denied her education,” Axel continued. “You permitted the pack physicians to label her defective without requesting an independent examination. You watched your future Alpha betray her and planned to trade her to an aging pack lord as a secondary mate.”
Murmurs erupted among the guests.
Thomas looked around wildly.
“That is a lie.”
“Is it?”
Axel’s gaze shifted toward one of the council elders.
The older wolf lowered his head, refusing to meet Thomas’s eyes.
Axel already possessed evidence.
The realization spread through the ballroom.
Thomas dropped to his knees as the pressure of Axel’s power doubled.
“From this moment forward,” Axel declared, “Thomas Ashford holds no personal, legal, or pack authority over Harper. She stands under the protection of the Supreme Throne until she chooses her own position.”
Harper turned toward him.
Until she chooses.
Axel had not called her property. He had not announced that authority had merely transferred from Thomas to himself.
He had placed the decision in her hands.
“If Thomas Ashford attempts to confine, threaten, bargain with, or speak on behalf of Harper again,” Axel continued, “I will consider it treason against the Supreme Throne.”
Thomas bowed until his forehead touched the floor.
“I understand.”
Chloe could endure no more.
“This is insane!”
She tore away from Evelyn’s grip.
“She is nothing! Harper cannot even shift properly. She spent her life washing our clothes and cleaning the stables. I am the Beta daughter. I am stronger, more educated, and more suitable to stand beside an Alpha Supreme.”
Evelyn seized Chloe’s arm.
“Be silent.”
Chloe shook her off.
“Why should I be silent? Everyone here knows I am better than her.”
Axel looked at Chloe.
The temperature in the ballroom seemed to drop.
For one terrible second, Harper thought he might kill her where she stood.
Instead, Axel spoke with devastating indifference.
“A wolf who must announce her superiority has already admitted she possesses none.”
Several guests lowered their faces to conceal their reactions.
Chloe’s cheeks burned.
“You do not know her,” Chloe said. “Harper is weak.”
Axel’s eyes flickered toward Harper.
“I know she found the courage to reject a future Alpha before the entire territory.”
His attention returned to Chloe.
“You betrayed your sister for a man incapable of loyalty. That is not strength. It is poor judgment.”
Chloe fell silent.
Evelyn dragged her backward before she could answer.
Landon remained on the floor, staring at Harper with desperate anger.
“My uncle is a monster,” he said. “You have heard the stories. He destroyed three rebelling packs. He executed his own advisers. He cannot form a normal bond.”
Axel’s expression did not change.
Landon continued, sensing that fear might succeed where possession had failed.
“He does not love anyone. He will use your rejection to humiliate me, and when you no longer serve a purpose, he will discard you.”
Harper looked at Axel.
He did not deny being dangerous.
He did not offer false promises of tenderness or eternal love.
He simply waited for her decision.
That, more than any speech, gave her the strength to answer.
“He may be a monster,” Harper said, returning her gaze to Landon. “But at least he does not pretend to be a good man while betraying the person the Moon Goddess entrusted to him.”
Landon flinched.
“And if I must choose between a king who reveals his claws and a boy who hides his cowardice behind destiny,” she continued, “I will choose the king.”
Axel’s hand tightened slightly against her waist.
Onyx rumbled inside him with unmistakable approval.
“We are leaving,” Axel said.
Harper looked around the ballroom one final time.
She saw Thomas trembling on his knees, Evelyn calculating behind a mask of concern, Chloe shaking with envy, and Landon staring at her as if he had only now realized she possessed the ability to walk away.
These people had defined her entire life.
Within minutes, they had become her past.
Axel turned toward the doors.
Harper’s knees weakened as the pain of the severed bond suddenly surged through her chest. She inhaled sharply.
Axel noticed before anyone else.
He swept her into his arms.
Harper instinctively caught his shoulder.
“I can walk.”
“I know.”
“Then put me down.”
“No.”
His tone allowed no argument, but his hold was careful. One arm supported her back while the other rested beneath her knees, keeping the torn fabric of her gown from exposing her.
The gathered wolves bowed as Axel carried her through the ballroom.
No one attempted to stop them.
When they passed Landon, his wolf released a broken whine.
Harper did not look down.
The castle doors opened, revealing the black night beyond. Cold air touched her skin, clearing the suffocating scent of fear and jealousy from her lungs.
As the doors closed behind them, Harper studied Axel’s sharp profile.
His jaw was tense. His eyes remained silver, and power still rolled from him in controlled waves.
She had escaped the trap of her fated mate.
Now she was being carried toward the private estate of the most feared wolf alive.
Axel looked down at her.
“You regret your choice?”
“No.”
“Then why is your heart racing?”
Harper forced herself not to look away.
“Because everyone says you are dangerous.”
A faint, humorless smile touched his mouth.
“They are correct.”
Harper’s pulse quickened.
Axel carried her toward the waiting vehicle.
“But danger is not the same as cruelty,” he said. “You will learn the difference tonight.”
Harper wanted to believe him.
Yet as the black gates opened and the convoy disappeared into the forest, she understood that her old life was truly over.
Whatever waited at Blackwood Manor would not be gentle.
But for the first time, the risk belonged to a future she had chosen herself.
